According to the Economic Information Daily, data submitted by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the Indian Parliament on the 21st shows that its subsidiary Anti-dumping and Joint Taxation Directorate has launched a total of 149 anti-dumping investigations against China, accounting for nearly 55% of the total number of anti-dumping cases in India.
According to the data provided by the Minister of State of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, Jyotiraditia Sindia, since the General Directorate of Anti-dumping and Joint Taxation of India started its operation in 1992, a total of 272 anti-dumping investigations have been initiated. The data also shows that 77 of the anti-dumping cases currently being processed involve China.
The report pointed out that since China is India's main source of imports, Indian domestic companies often request anti-dumping investigations against Chinese companies on the grounds of protecting domestic industries.
So far, India has not recognized China's market economy status, and Chinese companies under anti-dumping investigation have suffered great losses.
